Size
One of the first things you need to consider is the size of the shower. This will of course be dependent upon the size of your bathroom. It is possible to have one that is so large that you cannot fit much of anything inside the bathroom. You can also go too small and make it difficult to fit even one person inside of it. Measure the square footage of the room and then consider where the shower will go and measure that area. You need to account for the width and height as well as the clearance of any doors that it might have. If you plan on using a doorless shower design than you will have more room to spare.
Style
The style of your bathroom is important and will help to determine how large or small it is. You can design it in the standard square style. This style is usually stuck in a corner somewhere or in between two walls with only the opening exposed. This style can also be used in the center of the bathroom or to one side with glass walls surrounding the entire design.
When trying to conserve space you can use the half moon style. This is slightly smaller and is set against the side of one wall. The bottom of the shower is in a half moon shape and the walls surround it like a bubble. This can use either glass walls with a door on the front or with a shower curtain.
With any style that you choose you need to consider the slope of your bathroom floor. You do not want the water from the shower falling down and away from the drain and leaking all over your floor.
Features
There are features that you are able to use in your walk in shower design. You can select a variety of shower heads that will give you the right amount of water pressure or to get water from different angles and heights. There are also various materials you can use for the shower enclosure. Glass is the most popular choice because of the modern design. Some people will also use ceramic walls or a mere shower curtain.
