Steam Shower Design

There are several different ways in which we can convert our boring shower with a design that is useful, looks great, and is something that we have always dreamed of having. One such design is a steam shower. These are usually only seen in spas or rejuvenation centers. But people who are willing to spend hundreds to thousands of dollars for the benefits of this shower design are building one in their bathroom.

One of the things that make the steam shower design so expensive are the number of modern faucets and complicated plumbing that is required. These are highly useful and necessary for the shower to provide you with the right amount of steam. Because they can be exposed they are made to blend in well with their surroundings with an attractive appearance.

The way in which you design your steam shower will vary on many things. Some people will use various shower head options, will make it into a shower enclosure, something with sliding or swing doors, or inside of a custom sliding bathtub. The components that they use function the same way as a standard shower unit – but instead of water they deliver hot steam.

Features

The features that you will install on your steam shower design will determine how functional you wish it to be. You can use adjustable steam units, body spray jets, rain dome showerheads, waterfall showers, and if you really want to go all out you can have a built in sound system.

These features can be expensive and not all of us have the money in the budget for them. However, we still need to buy the necessary features. This will include the tiles and materials used to build it, shower seats, shelves to hold our toiletries, spray jets, and thermostatic controls.

Style

The majority of steam showers are designed with tempered glass and with a frameless style. This allows you to have something with a sleek look that will not look like it is taking up a large amount of space. The style that you use is important – but you have to make sure that everything else in the bathroom can handle it.

Steam is a type of moisture that can penetrate through most things and cause serious damage if the right precautions are not taken. If you allow the steam to seep into the infrastructure of your home then you will have a serious problem on your hands and will need to pay thousands of dollars to repair it.

When designing a brand new home tell the architect to use the right materials in your bathroom that will be able to handle the steam. In a preexisting bathroom you may have to change out a few things and install a bathroom exhaust fan. The high quality fans – which can cost around $100 – will be able to remove the steam from the bathroom.

If you are converting your bathtub into a steam shower design then enclose it with a proper door. The smaller steam shower require a narrow gap near the bottom of the door that will generate airflow. However, the larger showers should be designed airtight.
