How To Clean Tile Showers

Keeping the house is clean is one of the hardest things that we have to do. It seems that everyday we clean it and everyday some new dirt or stain magically reappears. One of the hardest things to keep clean are the tile showers. This is because they are constantly wet and they become a breeding ground for mold and mildew.

When cleaning out the tile shower you need to focus on removing the soap scum from the grout. You can do this easily by using distilled vinegar. Pour vinegar inside of a spray bottle and apply it to the tiles and grout. Let it set for fifteen minutes and than reapply. Use a scrub brush or an old toothbrush to wipe them down. Rinse them off with cold water and dry them with a soft cloth.

The more stubborn areas are going to be the hardest to get clean. For this you need to use lemon juice. Pour lemon juice onto a cotton ball and wet the area with it. Let it set for five minutes and scrub it with a soft toothbrush. Rinse when you are done and dry it off.

Now that your tiles are nice and clean you want them to look like new again. Apply a coat of car wax. This will help to seal the tiles and grout and keep as much water as possible from sticking to it. Let the wax dry and than buff it so that you can have it shine.

To keep up on this look you want to wipe down the shower everyday after it has been used. Not only will this keep them looking great – but it will keep them clean for longer periods and free of soap scum buildup and mildew. You want to reapply the wax twice a year.
